A pod of 40 to 50 short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) encountered southwest of Isla San Pedro Martir in the midriff region of the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez), Baja California Norte, Mexico. Pilot whales exhibit striking sexual dimorphism, with adult males (bulls) being longer, developing a more pronounced melon, and a much larger dorsal fin than females (cows.)
