The Saladin Citadel of Cairo was completed in 1183-1184 in Cairo, Egypt. It was built by a lieutnant of the Ayyubid ruler Salah al-Din and started in 1176 as a royal residence and military barracks. The Citadel is also referred to as "Mohamed Ali Citadel" since it constains the Mosque of Mohamed Ali.
